Haas Type Foundry T-Shirt

£15.00 / Sold Out

We all know classic Swiss typefaces like Neue Haas Grotesk and Haas Unica, but what does 'Haas' mean?

Taking its name from Johann Wilhelm Haas (not the trumpet player), the foundry operated under the Haas'sche Schriftgiesserei moniker from 1740. However, Haas also means Hare in German, which explains why a little bunny adorned everything from cold type to specimens. In 1989, Linotype, a majority shareholder in the company decided to close down the foundry for good. Keep Haas alive with these über sweet shirts. Screen printed, 100% cotton Gildan Ultra t-shirts. Get them quick before someone at Linotype tries to sue us.
